Infective endocarditis is an acute life-threatening illness of which 1 out of 10 Australians with it will die. Most will require open heart surgery and may spend a very long time in hospital with complications such as strokes and gangrene. The Common Good’s researchers are working tirelessly to find new medical breakthroughs that improve quality of life and, in some cases, offer those people more days and nights with the ones they love.
